  7. 1. Installing BAROLE
  8. ====================================================
  9.  
  10. ** Before you can use BAROLE you must have OLE 2.0
  11.    installed on your machine.  OLE 2.0 comes with 
  12.    applications like Microsoft Word 6.0, Access or
  13.    Excel.
  14.  
  15. 1. Create a directory called BAROLE2
  16.  
  17. 2. Copy all files from BAROLE2.ZIP to the BAROLE2 
  18.    directory.
  19.  
  20. 3. Run Windows 
  21.  
  22. 4. Create a program manager icon for BAROLE2.EXE and 
  23.    BAROLE2.HLP
  24.  
  25. 5. Run BAROLE2.EXE
  26.  
  27. 6. Now you can run programs like Microsoft Word
  28.    to embed OLE barcode objects.
  29.  
  30. Please note:  The setup program has been left out
  31. to save storage space in this .zip file.  The 
  32. registered version comes with a complete installation
  33. program and includes all necessary OLE 2.01 files.

  36. 2.  Last minute changes
  37. ====================================================

  39. a. Ratios
  40. ---------
  41. There are now 7 ratio levels to replace the previous
  42. 3 levels.
  43.  
  44. The new ratios are:

  57. You should adjust the ratio setting if you are having 
  58. problems scanning the barcode images.  Some styles
  59. scan better with a higher ratio such as 2.75 or 3.0.

  61. b.  New ini settings

  64. If you have problems with in-place editing in OLE client
  65. applications then set the "AllowInPlaceEditing" flag to
  66. 0 in the barole2.ini file.

  72. c. Switching the barcode data and text positions
  73. -----------------------------------------------

  75. Normally the barcode data string is shown below
  76. the barcode and the user text is shown above the
  77. barcode.  However, for most barcodes you can
  78. swap the placement of the text and data, by selecting
  79. the Switch Data/Text Positions option in the Options
  80. menu.

  82. The corresponding OLE property is:

  86. The corresponding DDE command is:

  88.     SWITCH_TEXT     parameter TRUE or FALSE

  90. FALSE = Data below and text on top
  91. TRUE = Data on top and text below.

  93. Switching data/text is not available for
  94. EAN8/13 and UPC/A and E.
